LEVEL BEBE: Young Star Beginner (Ages 2 to 5)

Young Star Beginner is designed to be fun and rewarding! Structured home practice is gradually introduced as the program proceeds.​

LEVEL ZERO: Young Star Exploration (Ages 6 to 8)

For beginner students, the class focuses on getting started with the instrument, posture, and fundamental techniques to play in a group and solo work. Music reading, intonation and rhythm in group playing and games are incorporated into the class. 

 

Students in exploration, orientation, and adventure may join our Musica string orchestra for major production performances during the years as 2nd or 3rd instrumental parts.

LEVEL ONE: Strings Exploration/Orientation (Ages 6 to 13)

For students who have completed Young Star Exploration one year. This class moves onto more finger and bowing technique. This level runs for 20 classes.

LEVEL TWO: Strings Adventure

For students who are working on Book 1 or 2 repertoires in a chamber ensemble setting (audition assessment required). This is a pre-orchestral level. This level runs for 28 classes and includes 3 performances. 

​

After Strings Adventure, students should then move onto private lessons with the additions of the Musica String Chamber level or MRU Orchestra (ensemble experience) and Musica Theory Class (theory requirement).

ORCHESTRA ENSEMBLE LEVEL: MUSICA STRINGS CHAMBER 

MULTI-PARTS AND LEVELS, [AUDITION REQUIRED]

Open to students who are preparing to audition for other Calgary's larger orchestra or want to stay in smaller chamber orchestra for more individual attention. (audition and separate private lesson are required for this level). This level allows for students to acquire valuable chamber ensemble experience. The program is 9 months, and includes 28 rehearsals and 3 performances.

Wind instrument and piano students (intermediate to advanced level) may join orchestra ensemble to learn about ensemble playing and accompaniment upon audition assessment.
